University Presbyterian Church (UPC) has a long history of generous support for a variety of local, national and international outreach programs. These programs are supported not only by local financial benevolences pledged by the congregation but by time and talent of many of the members of the church. Latchkey Centers Unlimited, an after school child care and education program for barrio children. Support through Giving Tree. UPC Bingo Ladies, who bring companionship and entertainment to the residents of a local nursing home. Save your aluminum cans to fund this activity and place them in containers in Fellowship Hall. Opportunity Center for the Homeless, which offers a variety of programs and services for the local homeless community in helping them to overcome the obstacles before them. Toiletries and clothing may be donated. Project Vida, a Presbyterian-supported organization in South El Paso serving a wide variety of health and educational needs of families in our community. A variety of time and talent are needed. Drive a Meal, for which UPC furnishes volunteers for Drive-A-Meal in April and November. New volunteers are always welcome. Dignity Offering, sponsored monthly by the Outreach Committee, selected items for non-profit organizations such as the Child Crisis Center are collected during each service on Communion Sunday, the first Sunday of each month. Envelopes are provided for those who would rather donate in that way. Roberts Community Project, a project to develop an ongoing neighborhood project association and to identify and provide health care education and childcare programs for this community. A variety of time and talent are needed. Other organizations which have received financial and hands-on support from UPC include Christmas in April, Christo Rey Outreach Project, Dame La Mano, La Posada House, Raynolds House, Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, and the YWCA Transitional Living Center.
